This report by former London cycling commissioner Andrew Gilligan was commissioned as part of the evidence base for the National Infrastructure Commission’s report Partnering for Prosperity: A new deal for the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford Arc. It highlights the need to increase the number of journeys that are made by bike by improve cycling infrastructure and makes a number of recommendations for improving provision for cyclists in Cambridge, Oxford and Milton Keynes, including new separated cycle tracks on main roads, new off-road routes and remodelled junctions to make them safer for cyclists and pedestrians.

As with all supporting evidence commissioned by the NIC, the views expressed and recommendations set out in this report are the author’s own and do not necessarily reflect the position of the National Infrastructure Commission.
