The NIC is exploring the UK’s freight sector – covering road, rail, water and other modes – looking at the its economic role, the impact of urban congestion and carbon reduction targets, and the potential of emerging technologies to transform the sector.

It will then make recommendations to government on what actions it should consider to support an efficient and low-carbon freight system over the next 30 years.

The commission has launched a six-week consultation for all interested parties to submit their views. This closed at the end of Monday 5 March 2018.
