Head of Communications
Deadline: Sunday 10 March

We’re looking for a new Head of Communications, a high profile and senior role within the National Infrastructure Commission.  Day-to-day, the successful candidate will be working directly to the Chief Executive and the Chair, providing expert strategic advice on the benefits and presentational risks of decisions and policies, handling announcements and breaking news, building its social media profile and helping it to influence central and local government and the wider infrastructure sector.

The Head of Communications has overall responsibility for all of the Commission’s communications activities output: drafting press releases and speeches, building influential relationships with press and media contacts, managing its website and social media presence, planning events and speaking engagements and delivering a high quality proactive and reactive media service for the Commission.  The Head of Communications also plays a central role, working with policy leads and the Commission’s senior team in shaping the content and narrative of the Commission’s reports and announcements.  This is therefore a varied role, covering a range of different disciplines – much broader than many communications roles.

The successful candidate will need to be an effective representative for the Commission on communications both internally, across Government and externally with journalists, opinion formers and other stakeholders across the wide-ranging infrastructure landscape – whether that’s on energy, transport, digital communications or environmental matters such as flood risk management, waste or water supplies.
